A State Board of Elections shall have general supervision over the administration of the registration and election laws throughout the State. The General Assembly by law shall determine the size, manner of selection and compensation of the Board. No political party shall have a majority of members of the Board.

  1. One Response to “ART. III, SECTION 5. BOARD OF ELECTIONS”

  2. I’ve wanted to make a case for the last sentence. There are more than just 2 parties in this country. To me, that statement implies EVERY political party. When you have only 2 parties controlling elections, you can’t exactly call it fair. The Libertarian Party ran into problems with the board concerning petitions. And because there were only republicans and democrats on the board, the LP was the loser in the dispute. Surprise, surprise! No competition is the agenda. The Board of Elections needs to be re-worked. But I don’t know how at this point. Maybe the people could elect them instead of the Governor appointing them. We just might get some other parties involved for that office. Just thinking out loud…
