April 8, 2008 – 12:42 amThe interest of parents in the care, custody, and control of their children–is perhaps the oldest of the fundamental liberty interests recognized by this nation and the courts. Accordingly, the rights of parents to raise their children according to their own values coupled with the solemn duty to do so properly shall not be infringed without a clear and convincing showing of eminent or actual harm to the child.
